Beach 32 Cricket Ground was the setting on Sunday, June 30 for Atlantis’ fifth victory for the season. Playing against Jazba Cricket Club in a shortened 35 overs affair, Atlantis won the toss and elected to have a bowl.

The decision turned out to be a smart one as Jazba was immediately in a spot of trouble losing their first wicket with the score at a mere seven ticks on the tins. Soon after wickets fell intermittently like the rain that dogged the match, at 37, 38 and 38, before a brief respite with the Jazba score inching up to 55 and the loss of another wicket. Another 41 runs and it started raining again, wickets that is at 96, 101, 116, 123 and finally at 143 that included 14 errant extras by the Atlantis bowlers. The top scorer for Jazba was Saeed Janjua c. Randall Wilson b. Trinson Carmichael for 50 off 57 balls and including 4x6s and 2x4s.

Bowling for Atlantis: Trinson Carmichael had figures of 6.3-0-34-4 and Joseph Brown with 7-0-24-3. Dillon Bourne playing in his first game of the season grabbed one wicket for 33 off 3 overs and was matched by Ashmead Nedd with 1 for 17 off 5 overs.

Atlantis in response jazzed up its victory with 144 for 1 in 16.5 overs. Winston Forrester with a well-made 36 off 22 balls, including 2x6s and 3x4s departed with the score at 73 lbw to Qazim Javed and Atlantis cruising to a W in the result column. Randall Wilson with an exquisite knock of 55 off 42 deliveries with 2x6s and 4x4s paced himself with able support from Yannick Elliott, 35 off of 38 (1×6 and 4x4s) saw Atlantis home at 144.
